Behind the Design: Habitat Pack

Our upcoming project deals with some of my own personal experiences of being a 20-something year-old. I graduated from college not too long ago and transitioning from this to adulthood has put me in a sort of limbo. Going through this while trying to find my own independence is what mainly inspired the message behind the release.

Many of us, especially in LA, have trouble finding places to live that are affordable at this age. It’s common to live with family while getting things flowing on this young adult wave. And although it’s truly a blessing to have this support, we still seek independent living situations. Michael Velasquez, master copywriter for our graphics, provided nuanced text that covers this overall theme. Some of it is specific to what’s previously mentioned, while some of it expands on being gen-z cuspers and earthling lovers.

Our experimental type logo is embroidered on front of the shirts and on the back pocket of the shorts. It’s also embroidered on top of a screen print on the shorts. All garments feature graphic-treated images of Habitat67 in Montreal, Canada. This housing complex was designed by Moshe Safdie in an effort to provide more housing through the combination of suburban homes and apartments. I thought this was fitting to use considering it conceptually brought together the two elements that many 20-something year-old’s move from and to.

Our Waverton Cotton Trunks are custom made from French Terry cotton. They feature an embroidery logo layered on top of a screen-printed graphic. Side seam pockets along with a back pocket are included.

All items are pre-washed and garment-dyed. The Habitat Pack is offered in 2 colors that can be mixed and matched depending on your preference [ buttercreem + hazel-moss ]. If you read all this…damn, you’re doing good. Thank you for being about it! Keep an eye out for our look-book campaign.
