With this vest, we’ve made a practical fishing garment. Actually, it’s pretty impractical, cause who really fishes in the syringe infested streams that we call the LA River? However, its forest green hue pairs well with opaque under layers, yet glows in a perfect state of symbiosis when layered over the naked skin. This colour compliments the full melanin spectrum. It also acts as the ideal camouflage for those exotic, Amazonian fishers. Nevertheless, where we sniffed this hint of practicality, we overlaid an array of colorful Hydrangea flowers foreign to these forests, almost taunting predators to attack. So maybe don’t wear it in the Amazon Rainforest, just the skreets of LA.

The Hydrangea printed fabric is inspired by the small town of Moygashel located near the southern edge of Dungannon in Tyrone County, Northern Ireland. Here, a group of Huguenot settlers [ French Protestants who were forced to flee France to other countries in the 16th and 17th centuries and would create a surge in the arts, sciences, and industry to other communities and nations ] would establish Moygashel Linen Mills. Pronounced “moy-gash-ill” by locals, Moygashel started as a supplier of fine linens for the aristocracy in the 1780’s. They manufactured luxury fabrics for designers such as Christian Dior and Madame Schiaparelli, and produced dresses for elite retail stores across the world. The luxuries produced in this town could never be afforded by those who produced them until 1941, when during WWII, they fashioned linens for affordable utility clothing.

This evolution in their linens and mainstreaming of their product inspired us to create a piece of clothing that embodies utility. And what we’ve came up with is a moderately handy garment with a shit load of pockets to hold your fishing hooks, weed, and other things you may need when exploring the nature of the city.

Currently we have 1 of 30 prototypes completed, but these vests are a constant project. By constant project we mean our perpetual laggery is certainly due to the time we take assembling focus groups to ensure the perfect product. And for that reason, you will be lucky to see one more vest with no promises on the remaining 28.

Prototype Fishing Vest(s) may or may not be available for sale but please email us if interested. Mojave mostly consists of broke college students and we'll be more than happy to make these available for purchase.
